System requirements
Is your computer ready?
The auxinux-hwcheck tool checks your machine before installing: green, yellow or red.
Hardware
| Component | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| Memory | 4 GB | 8 GB or more |
| CPU | 2 cores, 64-bit (amd64) | 4 cores or more |
| Disk | 40 GB | 80 GB or more (SSD advised) |
| Graphics | Any supported GPU | Dedicated GPU with Vulkan for gaming |
| Boot | UEFI, Secure Boot disabled | UEFI, Secure Boot disabled |
| Internet | Optional (minimal install) | Recommended for the first-boot wizard |
- Below the minimum, installation is blocked. A machine sold with 4 GB is accepted (actual threshold: 3.6 GiB).
- The graphics card never blocks installation: it is rated per use case. For gaming, a dedicated GPU with Vulkan gets green; integrated graphics get yellow.
- Manual check:
auxinux-hwcheck(orauxinux-hwcheck --json).

Known limitations (version 0.2.0)
- Secure Boot is not supported: the kernel is unsigned (GRUB shows
bad shim signature). - Validated in virtual machines only (QEMU): no testing on real hardware yet, BIOS install not validated.
- The “Install NOW” installer only installs to an entire disk. For dual boot with Windows, use Calamares from the live desktop.
- WPA-Enterprise Wi-Fi is not supported by the installer.
- The AuxiNux OS Center does not follow the Breeze theme yet; Flathub searches can be slow.
- Systems installed from an ISO older than September 29, 2026 must be reinstalled.
